Hi, GLLUG members,
Nobody's heard from Frank for a couple of weeks because Frank's
been sick with a case of the creeping crud (aka Bronchitis) for about
that long -- and stayed away so as not to infect everyone in sight.
I am getting better. I expect to be at the meeting tomorrow
evening. And I had expected to present the next bit of the LPI
tutorial. (I'll send the BASH by Example # 3 to Charles this evening
for posting on our website.)
However, I'm quite willing to get bumped if the planning for
Penguicon is taking a priority.
I'm also willing to simply post these PowerPoint / Impress slide
presentations with the associated notes and carry on an ongoing
tutorial discussion in some more detail and with ongoing evolution of
the content via our website & emails. Shame we don't have a WIKI
or a message board. That would help. [If we do have a message board
and I'm simply not aware of it, I'd appreciate knowing how to make use
of it.]
Regardless, I have the third BASH by Example tutorial in place and
ready to examine. We only got through about half of the second BASH by
Example the last time I did any of this.
I don't have any further LPI tutorials available (e.g. LPI6 / 7 / 8)
for a number of reasons -- all related to the number of hours in a
day. It's also the case that while I'm very interested in continuing
working through the LPI tutorials, whoever is posting the topics isn't
listening to me when I have said I don't have all these put together
yet and in some cases have not located the original documents -- which
were presumably on IBM's website at some point, but don't seem to be at
this point. Related, see the next paragraph.
In addition, the IBM website at
https://www6.software.ibm.com/developerworks/education/ has recently
posted not less than 13 new LPI tutorials that are much more up-to-date
than the ones I'd been working from for the presentations I'd been
working on. And anyone who's willing to log into IBM.com and do a
search for 'developerWorks/linux' can work through these on-line. They
are apparently aimed directly at the LPI 101/102 and LPI 201/202 exams.
As I said, I expect to be at the meeting tomorrow evening.
See you all there.
Was he? If so, I haven't heard anything about it. (Or else I have and
seriously screwed up, which I suppose is possible.) Normally the 4th
Thursday is Linux training night, but there's currently nothing on the
agenda for it. Frank, if you're reading this, let me know if you'll be
at the meeting this week and we'll get something hashed out.
