My last experience with Fluxbuntu was at its nBuild1 Rev2 phase, when it was still based on 6.06. It was a livecd then. Why aren't you just installing a minimal ubuntu and then apt-getting flux?

Well, the Fluxbuntu CD is actually just for installing Fluxbuntu. It's not a live CD. I guess I should have specified that originally.

I'm pretty sure that Xubuntu uses Ubiquity, the same installer that Ubuntu uses. But I've not installed any ubuntu from the livecd in some time (I prefer the debian-installer based alternate cd) so I can not offer any authoritative answers.
