Once you boot to live CD there should be an install icon somewhere that lets you install from live mode. thats how I usually do it. That way I can play on facebook while my computer is installing.

David
If you install 6.06 it will boot live from the CD but have an icon on
the desktop to install. In that version there was no other option, for
the desktop install disk anyway. You can double click on the icon and
it will install everything to the hard drive. If you want, you can
then upgrade from there. Bring it over sometime if you want to do it
together.
I'm trying to install Ubuntu on a Dell Inspiron 2600 laptop.
There is nothing on this system's HD that needs to be kept.
I have over time downloaded versions of Ubuntu from 6.06 through
9.10 and created CDs from the ISO images.
In all cases I believe these to be installation disks.
Booting the computer with the CD in the drive brings up the LiveCD
functions, but I'm not finding a way to actually initiate the
installation process.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
