Those of you who knew Dan Flynn Jr <https://www.facebook.com/dan.flynnjr> may
have already heard that he passed away last weekend. Those of you who did
not know him well, may still remember that he was honored by the American
Dialect Society
<https://www.facebook.com/pages/American-Dialect-Society/110992625618318>
several
years ago, for work he did with Dennis Preston
<https://www.facebook.com/dennis.preston.14>. He was a talented scholar,
but also a genuinely kind, thoughtful and humble person. Among the family
he leaves behind is a young daughter, Bea "Peaches" Flynn.



Below is the notice sent by his father.



“Many of our friends and family have inquired about funeral services for
our son Dan Jr. Dan did not in anyway want his daughter subjected to any
kind of traditional funeral services, he felt that she was just too young
to accept it or understand it, therefore his final wishes were to be
cremated without any services. Those wishes have been carried out, His wife
Liz, is preparing a celebration of life for Dan at a later date in Atlanta.
We will let you know the details of that as we receive them. Thank you very
much for all your prayers. I know that Dan would have been extremely
humbled by your many words of kindness. I ask that you keep his daughter
Beatrice, in your prayers so that she may find comfort in these trying
times. Once again thanks to all.”
