Hi everyone,

Apologies to people receiving this on both the FOS and Sociolinguistics Lab
lists.

We're looking for a number of native-English-speaking volunteers to
proof-read a collection of sociolinguistic interviews as soon as possible.
The interviews were conducted, in English, by PhD student Mingzhe Zheng.
The interviewees are young US adults of either European or Chinese
heritage. Although Mingzhe's English is excellent, he'd like to ensure that
his transcriptions are accurate before he conducts further analysis.

This would be a nice opportunity for an undergraduate (or several
undergraduates) to listen to some real sociolinguistic interviews and be
involved in a project. Mingzhe particularly welcomes help from people who
might like to work with the interview data for projects of their own. But
even if you'd just like to listen to and check over an interview or two, he
would love to have your help.

Please contact Mingzhe at zhengmi4 at msu.edu if you've got a spare hour or
two and you're interested. He can show you how to use the transcription
software, ELAN, to tab through and check all the utterances.

Suzanne
