FOS,

Socio Lab member Bethany Dickerson is looking for participants for an
online experiment she's conducting for an Honors project. Details are
below.

If you're an instructor, and you'd like to/be willing to offer the survey
for a small amount of extra credit, please contact Bethany (dicker86 at msu.edu)
and she'll send you the instructions.

Thanks!

Suzanne

When you hear someone speaking, you make judgments about what the speaker
is like. For example, you might think someone is outgoing, intelligent, and
rural, among many other social identities, based only on how they talk. The
MSU Sociolinguistics Lab (sociolinguistics.linglang.msu.edu) is interested
in the impressions you get from speakers after listening to only a few
seconds of speech.

Follow this link to the survey:

Your responses will help us understand how the English language is
evaluated in everyday life and how that might affect speakers' language use
in forming identities. A summary of the results will be available at the
end of the spring semester 2016 on the lab's website (
sociolinguistics.linglang.msu.edu). If you have questions, please contact
Bethany Dickerson at dicker86 at msu.edu.
