I've been asked to raise awareness of the talk below, by Richard Wright
<http://depts.washington.edu/phonlab/people/wright.htm>. Wright's research
in phonetics includes work on production and perception of variation,
including effects of sociolinguistic characteristics of speaker and
listener.
