FOS,

Please save the date for this upcoming home-grown linguistics conference,
organized by and featuring MSU Linguistics graduate students!

In particular, you may want to attend the *keynote talk by Robert Podesva
<http://web.stanford.edu/~podesva/> *(Stanford). Podesva's work mostly
investigates the social meaning of sociophonetic variation. A former
student of Penelope Eckert, he is especially interested in gender,
sexuality and race. Many of you will know him for his PhD dissertation
project on style-shifting and identity construction in the speech of
"Heath", a gay male doctor.
