MSU Friends of Sociolinguistics,

I'm pleased to share with you that our new faculty colleague in Linguistics in the fall will be Dr. Betsy Sneller.<https://betsysneller.github.io/> Betsy's research is focused on sound change and variation, especially children's acquisition of sound change. Check out her recent article<https://www-cambridge-org.proxy2.cl.msu.edu/core/journals/language-variation-and-change/article/phonological-rule-spreading-across-hostile-lines-thfronting-in-philadelphia/6C0FC55738C87073807B11B1446A7951> in Language Variation and Change: "Phonological rule spreading across hostile lines: (TH)-fronting in Philadelphia".

Originally from Holland, MI, Betsy returns to Michigan with a great research record that includes ethnography, perception and production experiments, corpus linguistics, artificial language experiments and computational modeling. We're very excited to welcome her to the MSU Sociolinguistics Lab and to Michigan State University.

Suzanne
