course *will* meet on Wednesday, August 28, following the university schedule for the first week of classes (although schedule.msu.edu contradicts this, and we're working to fix that!).</span></div>

of social, economic, and political issues within our societies. Topics include a short history of the internet, digital identity and community, activism, labor, harassment, privacy and surveillance, networks, and how the internet is governed (or not). We will
review and engage in several ways in which research gets done and how we can ethically sustain this work given current events.<br>
