is seeking students (graduate and undergraduate) who'd like to join our team this fall. This is an opportunity to be a part of an ongoing research project, recently featured in

In this phase we need help with tasks including: </div>

<ul>
<li>recruiting participants via e-mail and (social) media outreach<br>
</li><li>designing recruitment and promotion materials</li><li>retaining participants over time via innovative communications with them</li><li>managing participant information, including compensation</li><li>brainstorming weekly question prompts for adults, teens and kids</li><li>managing our social media accounts and website</li><li>reviewing audio diary contributions for "stories" to feature on our website each week</li><li>engaging with partner organizations like 4H and Library of Michigan</li><li>correcting automated speech-to-text transcriptions</li><li>liaising with our app developers</li></ul>
<div>We're looking for volunteers, but there is a possibility of paid positions in the next year. It's also a great chance to get to know other students at our weekly project meetings (via video), and to see how sociolinguists are collecting data via remote
means during the pandemic. As we consolidate our data collection, there may also be opportunities for interested students to conduct some preliminary linguistic analysis. </div>

<div>Ideally we'd like to hear from students who can commit 2-3 hours per week for the entire fall semester. If you can stay with us in spring too, that's great, but not necessary at this time.</div>
