The session features multiple current and former MSU sociolinguists, including Dr. Betsy Sneller (MSU, organizer), Yongqing Ye (MSU), me, Monica Nesbitt (Dartmouth) and Jim Stanford (Dartmouth). Betsy and I will provide an overview of our
MI Diaries project (http://mi-diaries.org), and we'll hear from three other research projects that have been collecting data remotely since the start of the pandemic. They include Monica and Jim's
Eastern Massachusetts Life and Language project, Lauren Hall-Lew and colleagues'
Lothian Video Diary project, and Maya Abtahian and Naomi Nagy's study of multilingual speakers. Discussants are Lynn Clark and Katie Carmichael, who have undertaken sociolinguistic research on the aftermath of the Christchurch, NZ earthquake and Hurricane
Katrina, respectively.
