GPL'ing star office is merely a (huge) jab at
M$. Sun has been increasing their TV advertising
lately, trying to get the non-techie masses to
realize who the heck they are. Basically a
good move if they also advertise Star Office
as a free alternative to M$ Office. I suppose
Sun playing nice with the GNOME people couldn't
hurt, as long as they adhere to the license.

Here is an interesting article regarding Sun's plans for Gnome and
adopting it as the future desktop of Solaris:

What the hell is Sun thinking these days? GPL'ing Star Office? seeing
the GNOME footprint logo on their main website (http://www.sun.com)??
