I think this sounds like Intel is going to support DDR.

chipsets that tie its high-end microprocessors
       to memory chip architecture owned by Rambus Corp. (RMBS) but will
support "whatever works" for
       less-expensive products. RMBS +4 3/4. INTC +1 1/4.
