ATT Cable modems, OT: Looking for a job

I have just moved to the East Lansing area (from Saline/Ann Arbor) and
found out that I can get ATT's cablemodem service. Are there any
hardware/software issues with the cablemodem service and Linux? Are
there any issues with ATT & Linux? (About a year ago when WLUG people
were getting the one-way MediaOne RoadRunner service, media one refused
to install it on anything other than windows, which caused a lot of
people to do the old HD switch 'aroo. (Kinda understandable, since they
were requiring the technicians that came to your house to install a PCI
card). Recently, they have been changing over to the dual way broadband
solution that uses a cable modem that uses ethernet, so they just
required you to have a network card and let you deal with the
configuration if you wanted to.) (And removed any requirements on OS's..
you just needed a TCP/IP stack.) What type of hardware/cable modem do
they use?
Also, I was just curious if anybody knew of any job openings for a
programming job, (hopefully in a UNIX environment). (Resume is at
www.basher584.org/resume) (also, just applied to lessi.com so need not
mention them).
Re: the next LUG meeting.. I will also not be able to attend if it is on
Wednesday..
Thanks!!
