I use Window Maker primarily because the default install allows
you to switch between virtual desktops with Alt+1...Alt+9.  I
find that I often have a single window (or two or three) up on
one desktop and switch between them with these keystrokes, and
that this is faster than moving my hands over to the mouse.

Then again, I'm a very console-oriented guy.  Every time
"desktop" appears in the above paragraph, I first typed "console"
before backspacing over it and fixing it.  I guess for me Window
Maker is just more like a console.

(I'm sure that other window managers can do this too, but the
last time I checked their default setups didn't have them doing
it.  It's quite possible that they've changed in the year or so
since I last looked at anything else, too.)
