Mike,

Sorry to hear of your woes. However, as a counterexample, I just moved a
computer running Red Hat 6.2 ~900 miles (needless to say I changed wall
sockets) and have not had the same trouble you have had. Oh, yeah -- I use
VMWare on this box, too. 

Could you possibly be having a hardware (esp. hard disk) problem? Just a
shot in the dark....
