.rpm and .deb is distribution specific.  The Debian 
distribution used the "deb" format, while Redhat 
(and offshoots) use the "rpm" format.  You should 
be able to find both GNOME and KDE packages for each 
kind.

hey i know that with KDE you can use .deb and .rpm
but i only know that GNOME does .rpm does it do .deb to?
can you set it up to do .deb?
