Note that these are retail numbers, not total Linux 
boxes.  If you go by retail numbers, almost nobody 
would be running Debian.  I'm sure WordPerfect had 
a lot to do with their numbers.  This might also 
include OEM deals for pre-built systems.  Red Hat 
has been riding on 6.1 for quite a while, so maybe 
these numbers will be thrown off when 6.2 hits 
the store shelves.

When did they come out with their version? Wasn't it November? How can they
have accumulated so many users in that time? Is it overall acceptance of Linux
in the public?
