I have now spent many, many hours trying to compile TeX, LaTeX, and =
dvipdfm on my FreeBSD 4.0 box. Absolutely everything works -- except =
for the fonts. Even xdvi (which is installed from a package) chokes. =
It can't find any of the fonts and then dies. TeX compiled just fine. =
The LaTeX compile dies on the fonts. And dvipdfm compiles just fine but =
cannot find any of the files.
Here's a brief excerpt from "make install" in "/usr/ports/print/latex":

Sorry about the length of the post... Anyhow, what I'm wondering, is =
