1a) Yes, but need more information. Such, how are you trying to do
samba authentication? Via a W2K AD, NT Domain, samba password file,
etc. You would also need to specify this setting in the user
properties settings.

1b) Yes, make sure you check the re-connect at login or if you map the
drive via the command line, that you specify: /PERSISTENT:YES. But,
this is dependant on the password that you are logged in with on the
Windows machine and the password that samba is expecting being the
same.

Since both of these answers are really just NT/2000 problems/answers,
if you have questions, contact me off list because i'm sure many of
the people don't want to have to read stuff about Windows problems.
Nick.

am able to see and access samba shares but have to manually supply
password for them all the time.

Like when you log in with win95\98 and the mapped drives are already
reconnected due to logging in to samba. Everytime I log into win2k I
have to type in passwords.

diald? If so whats the secret to getting it done. I have tried for
over a 2 weeks changing and tweaking the config files trying to get it
to work. It dials up.... tries to negotiate and dies. Like it doesn't
like diald scripts or the script is not giving the information that it
needs to logon.
