(yet another kernel question)
If I compile kernel version X on distro Y, would there be any
compatibility problems if I took kernel X and used it to
boot distro Z? Besides modules, I'm guessing no, but I could
be mistaken. I'm downloading 2.2.17 for my Debian box right
now (the memory problem one). I am having some other problems
with it, like "apt-get upgrade" is segfaulting on me. I'm going
to try a new kernel -- I'm hoping the segfault is related to
the memory problem. If there is a problem with compiling
the kernel on this box, I may need to use another custom kernel
from another box (hence the question).
