Simple LaTeX Question

I've been writing a tutorial in LaTeX and I'm loving it!  LaTeX is a 
god-send for all casual writers.  However, after searching the LaTeX2e help 
file that comes with MiKTeX I cannot figure out how to underline a piece of 
text.  All they talk about is italics and bold and a couple other formatting 
features.  How do I underline a piece of text?

LaTeX rocks!  I'm now a convert -- screw Word for technical documents :)
