I have been having problems with @homes local (I think)DNS servers.
I did try entering the NS1.HOME.NET internet address = 24.0.0.27
for the DNS server my machine uses, just to see if I could use it.
There are 10 hops to the NS1.HOME.NET, so I doubt I will use it.

When I did a traceroute to 24.2.222.33 and 24.0.0.27, I get a wierd first
hop:

# traceroute 24.2.222.33
traceroute to 24.2.222.33 (24.2.222.33), 30 hops max, 38 byte packets
 1 * * *
 2 proxy1.elnsng1.mi.home.com (24.2.222.33) 9.456 ms 12.132 ms 8.843
ms

]# traceroute 24.2.222.33
traceroute to 24.2.222.33 (24.2.222.33), 30 hops max, 38 byte packets
 1 * * *
 2 proxy1.elnsng1.mi.home.com (24.2.222.33) 9.456 ms 12.132 ms 8.843
ms

traceroute to 24.0.0.27 (24.0.0.27), 30 hops max, 38 byte packets
 1 * * *
 2 bb1-fe1-0-100bt.elnsng1.mi.home.net (24.2.222.1) 11.343 ms 9.515
ms 10.521 ms
 3 c1-se6-0.dtrtmi1.home.net (24.7.73.189) 33.528 ms 37.214 ms
18.597 ms
 <last 7 hops not shown>

Whats up with the * * * ?

I was thinking about letting my machine as a caching DNS
server. Do you think that this would be a good idea?

Thanks,
