So I called last night to cancel my service and get my money back
for the last month of my cable modem not working. Well, they
convinced me to stay by offering a free month of service, and since
I already had a tech scheduled to come take a look at it today, I
decided to give them a second chance. So I dialed up to MSU, sent
an email saying I wouldn't be in this morning so I could wait for
the guy to show up, and didn't think anything of it. Well, as I
was climbing into bed, I noticed that my cable modem was back
online... And it was still working this morning. And it's still
working now since I'm connected with it as I type. So I get the
suspicious feeling that the tech is going to come out here, find
nothing wrong, go away, then tonight the damn thing is going to go
down again and it'll be another month before someone can come fix
it...

I'm getting 12% packet loss and about 2% duplicate packets when
pinging MSU. When I downloaded an 11Mb file from campus, I was
getting 230k/sec, but editing this email is very choppy and running
CVSup to update my ports tree is going relatively slow... Hmm...
*ponder*

Well, off to wait for the tech some more...
