nis map updates

Hello,

I know there is some delay in updating maps for NIS especially when you use
slaves. I though only use master server and clients. I still have ten minute
delays on updates of yppasswd done on clients.

I also just redid the unix passwd for a user on the server 'passwd <user>' and
rebuild the map by hand ypinit -m and the new password is also not available
until ten minutes pass.

I thought the clients contact the server on each authorization. Do they also
only copy the map and store them and request them only every ten minutes?

What suggestions do you have? I am sure there is a way to shorten the updates
just wondering what experiences you have.
