I saw a great presentation from www.tusc.com last year re installing Oracle
on Linux.

Altho I can't run off to San Diego, this page explains how they're
presenting again on April 15:

One thing I got out of it, at the time, was that Oracle is expensive no
matter where it's installed.

If your assignment compares costs, you might want to look at mySQL and
PostGres as alternatives to Oracle on Linux.
