Thanks for the information.  I won't be seriously looking at buying a 
system until the Christmas sales start, never know what Apple may bring 
out for the holidays.  Having the latest kernel doesn't matter to me, 
as long as everything works.  I think I'm just going to set up a dual 
boot between OS X and Linux, until I decide which one I like better.

I checked the Apple store and all macs come with 10.2 installed, so 
that isn't an issue.
