[GLLUG] RPM question

It depends a lot on the package itself. Before installing a non-Mandrake rpm, run `rpm -q -pR [filename` to determine what its dependencies are and if they can be met. Also run `rpm -q -pl [filename]` to see the files contained in the rpm. This is a good way to check for filesystem and path issues before installing. If it looks good then the only way to know for sure will be to try it.

Also, there is a Horde rpm for Mandrake 9.0, but it's 1.2.7, not 2.2.x. (http://www.rpmfind.net//linux/RPM/mandrake/9.0/contrib/RPMS/horde-1.2.7-1mdk.noarch.html)

If you decide you want to run the latest stable (2.2.3?), it might still be useful in comparing the latest rpm for RedHat against.

Subject: [GLLUG] RPM question

I'm running Mandrake 9.0, is it possible to use RPM's made for RedHat? If
so which version of RH? I was looking into the Horde Project
(http://www.horde.org) and wanted an "easier way" to install it as it
looks pretty daunting.

Thanks for any help
