[GLLUG] XMMS In Redhat 9.0

I had the same issue, my suggestion is to do the
following:

Uninstall your XMMS Rpm's and remove your .xmms
configuration.

Install the packages listed here:

http://havardk.xmms.org/dist/xmms-1.2.7-rh8-rh9-rpm/

This should resolve the patent issue with regards to
XMMS that comes with RedHat 8/9, which prohibits an
mp3 from being played
