Depends.  Music?  xnap, xnap.sorceforge.net , it's written in Java but 
it doesn't suck performance-wise.  Movies?  Overnet, www.overnet.com , 
the Linux client is a statically-compiled command-line thing with an 
open-source GUI wrapper.  This project used to be known as eDonkey.  
Neither program suffers from the "need to find more sources" problems 
that anything using GNUtella has constantly.
