I'm new to administering linux (was a user of unix while in school) and have
run into a problem with the Redhat 9.0 config gui's not displaying after I
run them. I have a bit of a strange setup though, which might be causing it.
I am running VNC on a Windows XP machine and log in with KDE. I took the
steps to make Redhat 9.0 a terminal server-like setup
(http://www.sourcecodecorner.com/articles/vnc/linux.asp), so I can just boot
up the linux box and connect up w/ my laptop.

I try to run "System Settings->Users and Groups" and nothing happens. Some
of the other GUI programs run, but this one doesn't. I tried running it from
the command line (redhat-config-users) and this is what I got:

CODE
Xlib: connection to "purplehaze:1.0" refused by server
Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect to Server
Traceback (most recent call last):
 File "/usr/share/redhat-config-users/redhat-config-users.py, line 26, in ?
     import mainWindow
 File "/usr/share/redhat-config-users/mainWindow.py", line 24, in ?
     import gtk
 File
"/usr/src/build/218821-i386/install/usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/gtk-2.0/
gtk/__init__.py", line 43, in ?
RuntimeError: could not open display

So it looks like it's trying to display on display 1, but I'm not logged in
at the console I'm using display/port 5962.

Is there any way to redirect the gui to display on my remote session?
Is there a better way to do this?
Should I even be using Redhat?

Newbie here so be nice please. :)

Thanks.
