[GLLUG] LDAP Server NOT OpenLDAP

Does anybody know of a functional Open Source LDAP server that can be
used in place of OpenLDAP? TinyLDAP is out, by the way, because it
doesn't support client writes.

I've fought with OpenLDAP in the past and won (The current MSU LDAP
server probably contains some of my work, since the SQL backend as
distributed was useless), but I can't claim to have an interest in going
another round. I noticed that Fedora 2 has dropped support for the
server, and while OpenBSD includes it in ports, it's worth noting that
it doesn't support any but the most basic of backends (password, shell),
and the bdb backend segfaults upon initialization. Not exactly
something I'm gonna be willing to put into production. Additionally
it's a bear to compile the latest source.

So I'm looking for a decent ldap server. Something that wasn't written
by those dope smoking fiends in Ann Arbor (sorry, but I've modified
enough UofM code to know that I want to avoid their work). Maybe this
is a good project for me to take on in the future, but right now I'd
just like something that worked.
