[GLLUG] proxy server

Assuming that the proxy software in question will be Squid,
you can pretty much take your pick.  RedHat/Fedora, SuSE, 
Mandrake, and Debian all have packages for it so that you
don't need to build it yourself.  
 
The only specific suggestion I would make is that if you're 
going to run an especially big and/or busy Squid proxy that 
you put the cache directory on a Reiser partition, so picking 
a distro that supports Reister is a good idea.
