Greetings fellow LUG members. If you didn't attend the meeting, here's
all the SWELL and KEEN and SPIFFY stuff that you missed. These minutes
will be briefer than normal, unfortunately, as my note-taking laptop
busy being a presentation prop for the Asterisk demo.

Vital Statistics
----------------
10 people attended the meeting, which began with some General Banter
around 6:00PM and ended at approximately 9:15PM.

Official Business
-----------------
While I completely forgot to plug it this meeting, there is still a
great need for people to step up to volunteer as a Treasurer or
Publicity Director.

General Banter
--------------
Mostly shop talk and the quality of a local VoIP provider.

Presentation
------------
Michael's presentation, "*", was a great success. Several people showed
up especially for it and most everyone seemed enthralled and impressed
with the numerous nifty things that Asterisk can do, such as setting up
a PBX with multiple extensions, call forwarding to practically anywhere
on the planet (without disrupting voicemail), personalized rings,
personalized outgoing messages depending who's calling (the
ex-girlfriend feature), hardware requirements for realtime VoIP (not as
bad as you'd think), and a heck of a lot more.

Some valuable Asterisk links (can't recall the third):

More General Banter
-------------------
The presentation really took up most of the meeting, but only because it
really was that fascinating (and humorous). Towards the end, a few of us
stayed for awhile to help a new FreeBSD user to get X working on a
near-museum-quality laptop. Finally, there was yet another round of
keyboard talk.

Next Week's Meeting
-------------------
On the 23rd of September, the GLLUG will be holding an installfest and
beginner's night. This entire meeting is just for users who *want* to
try out Linux or BSD, but haven't quite gotten the hang of getting
everything installed or configured properly, or just simply haven't had
the time. Or perhaps stop by for a chat if your system is up and running
and you've got some questions on how to use it. We welcome experienced
users to come out as well to help out. After all, you remember how
grateful you were when someone took the time to explain how things
worked when you were but a green grasshopper in the vast jungle that is
Unix, right?
