In order to determine the best essay, a comprehensive grading program
should be created by the LUG...after it is determined whether we should
use vi or emacs to make the code, followed by the appropriate language
to use.

A "practical" solution :).... 


Contestants should, in 5 minutes, write a comprehensive essay that
describes their favorite linux or bsd distribution and how it is better
than other linux or bsd distributions. Following this, there should be a
(I'm sure) short debate among everybody as to who is right.  The person
with the best essay wins!
