I don't understand what it is that you are trying to do...are you
trying to get X working on gentoo, or trying to install ubuntu?
(although it sounds like you are trying to avoid doing that). X
shouldn't be too difficult to configure. If you have the right drivers
build into your kernel or loaded with modules you should be able to
just do an X -configure to make an Xorg.conf for you.
