Is it possible to image one laptop HDD to another without first making backup images? I have a laptop with a 40 gig HDD and I want to copy that to an 80 gig (then use qtparted to open up the rest of the space.)

I have another laptop and I thought, rather than making a compressed image of the whole thing, I might be able to just directly copy (using dd or something like that?) It's the same dual boot machine I mentioned before. It has XP and Ubuntu and is using the GRUB bootloader. The live cd I am using to do all this is Insert Security (http://www.inside-security.de/insert_en.html)

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks guys
