This is a fine opportunity to replace the motherboard.  I had a machine
that was prone to lockups as well, and this solved the problem.  I mean,
you could try testing the components on the motherboard, but the
motherboard is not considered a user serviceable part for most of us.
Swap it out and life will probably be happier.
