[GLLUG] WinVista security better than Linux?

Man, I'm glad I had already set my coffee cup down before reading this
article-- the liquid shooting out my nose would certainly have bathed
the monitor and keyboard:
 "Microsoft Claims Vista Is More Secure Than Linux"
<http://www.newsfactor.com/story.xhtml?story_id=53263>

Of course, the old "apples and oranges" applies here-- "Vista" is just
the OS, while "Linux" is the entire distro, all apps included-- and no
mention is made of the relative severity of said vulnerabilites, local
vs. remote exploits, or how many are simply being ignored.

It's also interesting to note the article's rating, 1/2 (!) out of 5
stars... I think people are (at least) starting to get the message.

At this point, Microsoft's PR machine is spinning like mad, as
exemplified in this article:
"Don't wait for Vista SP1, pleads Microsoft"
<http://apcmag.com/6458/dont_wait_for_vista_sp1_pleads_microsoft>

Also close to the front of the "Clueless Patrol" is this gentleman,
whose HuffPost article show that he doesn't get it, either-- but the
commenters seem to:
"Open Source is Not Innovative"
<http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dr-r-keith-sawyer/open-source-is-not-innova_b_53256.html>
