/dev/dsp and ubuntu and also Logitech Webcams (Re: [GLLUG] Cryosleep??)

Actually - being an ubuntu user, i've got alsa, oss and esd all setup.  And yes /dev/dsp doesn't exist

Anything I can do about that?  Also, when I have my webcam plugged in the 'nautilus preview' function of ubuntu doesn't work.  It didn't work after I upgraded to 'gutsy' so I figured out I had esound-common but not esound installed.  According to Ubuntu forum, that would fix it - and it did!  Until I shutdown, plugged in my logitech webcam and reboot.  Now that doesn't work and I have no system sounds. HA.  It's so fun.  Really I would never have a webcam or even really a GUI if it wasn't for my family.  The webcam does work though.

So any ideas on the /dev/dsp?  Or the webcam?
