I guess you really don't have to worry about that with MS Windows.
Alpha support was dropped, there's no driver support for 64-bit, and the
ARM offerings are borderline usable at best (at least through Windows
Mobile 2003).

Seriously though, one binary for each architecture ever supported by
Linux to date shouldn't be that big of a deal.  The original application
API is STILL supported on Linux, but long-since abandoned on Windows.
Plus, with Windows products, I think you typically have to do a new
release every few versions just because core features break (as the API
is less stable and the CORE bugs change from version to version).
