I've run into this issue with Acronis Home 11, and it can't have 
anything to do with the 2nd drive as I'm always putting the image on the 
same external 1 Tb USB drive.

When a long copy occurs it is because for some reason I can't copy the 
partition and boot sector in one pass. If the partition and boot sector 
will allow them selves to be copied in one pass, the process is short. 
When they won't, it's an hour plus.
