Thank you for the report, Michael.  I really don't mean to sound snotty 
in this next sentence.  Perhaps GUI file managers are easier to use than 
Midnight Commander, but I'm teaching a class on the Linux command line. 
  I'm also not covering emacs vs. vi(m), distros, or programming languages.
