After reading the linked article, it seems that this is a (stupid) 
Newegg policy that has nothing specifically to do with Linux, only with 
replacing the factory installed OS with another one.  I think Laura, at

I would not judge this to be responsible journalism.  I see nothing to 
support the headline that Newegg claims installing Linux breaks the 
computer.

Of course, it is clearly the case that the tech. support person who 
dealt with this should NOT be promoted.  The person who sent this in 
should keep calling Newegg until they talk to a reasonably intelligent 
person.  Newegg is nuts to have such an inane policy....well, somebody 
in particular there is nuts.
