P.K. took us through a tutorial for R tonight, or rather, half-way
through it. You can find it here:
and get up to speed for his second presentation on March 24th, during
which we plan to finish the tutorial. P.K. said to bring all the
questions you want and he will answer them as best he can.
I noticed that the last page of the tutorial is no longer accurate. The
web page it specifies for downloading R no longer exists (although the
website does), and it's directions are for Windows, anyway. R is
available in the Ubuntu repositories, and it even has a couple of
sections dedicated to it in Synaptic. I assume other distros will have
it available as well. P.K. had set us up to use the on-line version of
R Studio that his students use, so bringing a PC with R installed is not
required to work through the tutorial at the meeting. Just a PC with a
network connection and a browser that has Flash installed will be
enough, or you can share with someone else.
