Subject: [cirtl-announce] October at CIRTL: Teaching-As-Research Series
Begins Monday
<http://www.cirtl.net> CIRTL October Monthly Newsletter
CIRTL October Events Begin with Teaching-As-Research Alumni Panel
We're kicking off the month of October with our first Teaching-As-Research
event of the academic year! Every year, students at CIRTL institutions
create intensive Teaching-As-Research (TAR) projects to strengthen their
STEM teaching. On October 5, students from Iowa State University, Vanderbilt
University, and University of Texas at Arlington will present on their
recent TAR projects, discussing goals, challenges, and outcomes.
We're also launching a new month-long CIRTLCast series in October, on
fostering critical thinking in the STEM classroom. The series builds off of
our recently-started MOOC on evidence-based teaching
<http://stemteachingcourse.org/> and will feature materials and guest
instructors from the MOOC.
Our monthly Teaching in the US and CIRTL Reads series continue with sessions
on effective communication and student problem-solving.
