Friends of Sociolinguistics,

An announcement from Irina Zaykovskaya (zaykovsk at msu.edu) in the Second
Language Studies PhD program:

*Genre Analyses: From Airbnb blurbs to romance novels*
Please come see the LLT 809 students' poster presentations from their genre
projects. Genres range from daily life texts (such as Amazon product
reviews) to the more academic (the conclusion section of quantitative and
qualitative journal articles) to the front and back covers of romance
novels. Some, such as syllabi from first-year courses and blurbs on young
adult novels, are quite relevant to ESL teaching as well.

The session will be held on* Tuesday, November 28, from 2:15-3:15 in the
Wells Hall atrium on the second floor*. Visitors to the poster session
will be asked to vote for the best one, and a prize will be given to the
winner. Refreshments will be served.
