Dr. Sophie Holmes-Elliott's research focuses on the quantitative analysis of linguistic variation and change. Her work in language change and young speakers’ developmental shifts are especially germane to the theoretical goals of the MI Diaries project<https://www.mi-diaries.org> at the sociolinguistics lab. Additionally, we will also be reading one of her papers on pre-adolescent calibration at the Sociolinguistic development across the lifespan reading group<http://sociolab.wagnersu.msu.domains/reading-groups/sociolinguistic-development-across-the-lifespan-reading-group/> on March 1, 2021.
