Funky hardware problem

So I sit down at my server last night, and I notice
that the computer isn't responding very quickly when
I type stuff. I was just at a console, no X or anything.
Every keystroke takes about half a second to get
processed. My first thought was that perhaps it was
the new keyboard I got (that real nice Logitech
ergo/cordless beauty) which is actually attached to
my KVM. I switched the keyboard with a corded one,
and the problem still occurs (1. Not a keyboard
problem). I checked my processes and nothing was
killing the CPU, and "top" said my load average was
all zeros (2. Not a process problem). I tried
rebooting, and I went into the BIOS setup. The
thing was responding just as slowly in the BIOS
setup as in the O/S (3. Not an O/S problem). Now
I'm getting worried that the motherboard may be
the culprit. Besides the slow respond time,
the motherboard seems to think its OK. It states
the correct CPU clock speed and memory capacity.
Since I'm at work, of course I forgot which
motherboard I have in there, but it is a K6-2
system, 300 MHz, 128M ram (in a 32/32/64 config).
The keyboard is connected via PS/2. I think the
motherboard is my Gigabyte 5AX (I'm at work, and
I'll check when I get home). Other things about
the system work fine, the network response seems
normal.

Is anyone familiar with this kind of problem, and
do you know if its the motherboard or not? I'm
going to be fscking pi55ed if I have to get another
one.
